Welcome to my sweets shop!

I'm Maiya the owner, cake designer, pastry chef, marketer, food purchaser, delivery driver behind The Fat Cat Cake Boutique. My passion for pastries began at as a teen. I knew almost immediately after my first cooking class in 8th grade that I was going to be a chef. The creative artsy aspect of taking raw ingredients and using some science and proper techniques, creating beautiful pastries made it simple to decide that I was going to professionally train as a pastry chef. I hold an undergraduate degree from Johnson & Wales University, a Master's degree in culinary education from the same university. Current doctoral of education student with Northeastern U. When I'm not working in my kitchen creating edible art you can find me full time as the Executive Pastry Chef for the Foreman Wolf Restaurant group in Baltimore, MD or teaching at Frederick Community College as their executive pastry chef instructor. 

Outside of work I enjoy being Auntie M to 7 nieces and nephews, spending time delving into an interesting audiobook or creating abstract and portrait artwork for gallery showings.
